Rev. Manuel W. Aran

Rev. Manuel W. Aran and his wife, Joy, moved to Falmouth in 1999 after retiring from 30 years of pastoral ministry in South Boston, Waverly, PA and Union City, PA. Rev. Aran graduated from Eastern Nazarene College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and was ordained by the American Baptist Churches of MA at his home church in Dorchester. Rev. Aran worked for 16 years as a psychiatric social worker in emergency services at hospitals in Brockton and on Cape Cod. They have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. In the midst of a pastoral career of having ministered to and prayed for those who are sick, the Arans were led to apply the spiritual dynamic of praying for the sick to be healed by the power of God’s Holy Spirit with many evidences that can be described as miraculous.

I’ve been around healthcare long enough to recognize all healing is a miracle. That’s what the Spirit of God is about, and He is the One who called us to Falmouth Hospital to take part in this ministry. - M.A.

Rev. James Schutter

Compassionate ministry to residents (and staff) in nursing homes has been important for the past fifty years. After serving as a parish pastor in the United Methodist Church for forty years, and serving as a hospice chaplain for fifteen years, Jim ‘retired’ in 2021. He has continued to pastor a small U.M. church in Onset. Jim currently  serves as the chaplain  at JML Care Center in Falmouth and as a per diem chaplain at Falmouth Hospital.

Chaplain Jim believes that not only all persons, but all of creation have an ontological mandate to praise God. Much of Chaplain Jim’s ministry has included playing his guitar and singing hymns (usually ‘golden oldies’) that are known and beloved by residents and staff alike. These hymns connect us to our traditions, to our ancestors, and to one another—even to those who have preceded us in life and in death. If we can give thanks and praise God in whatever circumstance we find ourselves, we are doing well.

There are times when we speak to persons in a time of crisis at that moment; and there are times when we speak of times of crisis that pertain to one’s whole life. Whatever the crisis, or whenever the time of ministry, through affirming a relationship with the eternal God, every condition is sacred and every moment is eternal. - J.S.
